Illinois Settles On Obamacare Health Insurance Platform

The platform 1.2 million uninsured Illinoisans can use under ObamaCare to purchase health insurance has won federal approval, sources confirmed Tuesday.
The development, while expected, will be announced at a Wednesday press conference in Chicago by Gov. Pat Quinn and Kathleen Sebelius, secretary of the federal Health and Human Services Department.
“The governor is looking forward to hosting Secretary Sebelius and updating her on our work to launch the Affordable Care Act in Illinois, which will provide quality, affordable health-care for hundreds of thousands and create thousands of good jobs in the health-care field,” said Mike Claffey, a spokesman for the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services.
Claffey would not confirm details of Wednesday’s announcement.
But other sources said the new health insurance marketplace being announced will be a state-federal partnership for the first year and exist until state lawmakers design an exchange for the state that will need to be approved by the governor and HHS.
