Ex-Gov. Thompson Disappointed By 'Partisan Rancor' In Springfield

Former Gov. Jim Thompson says he's watching Illinois lawmakers closely as the legislative session draws to a close this week.
The state's longest-serving governor says he's disappointed with what he calls "the partisan rancor" in Springfield.
Still, he's hopeful and says both parties have tried to come together on several key issues this session, including court-ordered legislation that would allow the public possession of firearms as well as pension reform.
WNIJ radio reports that the former Republican governor made the remarks over the weekend at Northern Illinois University, where he was receiving an honorary doctorate from the College of Law.
